Ernesto Neto

One installation artist I found is Ernesto Neto. Like the packaging tape installation, many of his installations are interactive and can be touched, manipulated, or walked on by visitors. I couldn't find an official website but here's his exhibit at MoMa and links to other installations.

I went to this exhibit a while back at the SECCA Contemporary Art Museum in Winston Salem and this particular exhibit I saw was called "Look Again". It had some fabulous installation art pieces. A few artist and pieces:

This is one of my favorite artist (Lui Bolin). Here are a few examples from a series entitled "Camouflage" by Bolin that I find very cool as well as profound...

I thought this was really cool too.

Installation Art Defined

Installation or installation art - Art that is or has been installed - arranged in a place - either by the artist or as specified by the artist. It might be either site-specific or not, and either indoors or out. The term became widely used in the 1970's and 1980's, and continues to be employed by many people. Installation may be temporary or permanent, but most will be known to posterity through documentation. As a consequence, one aspect of installation is often the difficulty with which they can be commodified.
